Hello there. I'm Courtney. So nice to meet you!
I'm a copywriter who moonlights as an artist and calligrapher in Omaha, Nebraska. I believe in hand-written notes, breakfast for dinner and the healing power of laughter.
I'm a self-taught calligrapher. Inspired to learn for my wedding in 2012, I took to the internet. I watched hours of tutorials, read books and tested dozens of inks and nibs. Since then, I've taken classes and workshops to learn the ins and outs of traditional and modern styles.
Fun fact: I opened my shop Pleasant Avenue while living on Pleasant Avenue in Minneapolis. I originally thought I'd sell vintage dishware online. However, I couldn't part with my thrifted finds and shortly after I got hitched, requests for my calligraphy came rolling in from friends and family.
Voila! Pleasant Avenue Paper Co. was born. I stocked my shop with lovely hand-painted cards and whimsical paintings featuring my signature calligraphy. Now, I make happy little things for people all over the world. And I still do it all from my kitchen table. Imagine that!
Every painting and card I create is made by hand, to order. The handmade nature of my work makes it deeply personal. I'm filled with joy knowing each piece brings a smile to someone's face.
I love what I do, and you will too!
